As an experiment, I created an online Forum on Delphi. It's called "GRS 1999." We'll be using this as our online meeting place for the next couple of terms. After that, it belongs to you, the 1998 incoming IH doctoral class. If it is useful to you, use it to keep in contact with other members of your cohort for the rest of your lives! Other options after this year would be to expand it to all IH doctoral students, and/or all alumni.

I don’t have any particular functions in mind for this forum for the next couple of terms. Generally, if there is something like a last-day change in the meeting schedule or room, I will send an e-mail to each of you. I expect it will be used for more occasional, non-urgent topics–if at all!

With the message board, you can view discussion topics quickly in the left-hand column and read up to 20 messages at a time. You can even attach files (such as pictures and programs) directly to messages -- just like e-mail. It's fast, easy, and efficient.

As the Forum "Host", I control the specific features of the Forum.

I've chosen to make this Forum private so access is only for you.

The best way into the forum is at the following URL:

In order to provide personalized services and access control, you'll need to go through a quick registration if you've never used Delphi before. It only takes a minute and it's free! You only have to give information that is specified as required.

There are thousands of forums on Delphi. You can use the personalized "My Delphi" feature at to keep track of new messages in this forum and any others you may enjoy.

I'm eager to hear comments and suggestions. Let's get the conversation started!
